What to expect

In Nevers, Gates employs approximately 150 professionals. The site holds a key position within our global manufacturing network, specializing in the design and production of high-performance industrial and automotive belts. We are currently seeking a Maintenance Manager to lead a multidisciplinary team dedicated to both preventive and corrective maintenance, comprising electricians, automation specialists, and mechanics

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Allocate human resources for equipment improvement and reliability studies, ensuring strict compliance with hygiene, safety, environmental, and energy standards, as well as legal and regulatory requirements for the machinery fleet
  • Responsible for managing and reducing energy consumption (electricity, compressed air, gas, water, and steam) necessary for plant operation, in accordance with ISO 14001, ISO 50001, and ISO 45001 standards
  • Propose improvements to enhance energy efficiency and operational performance
  • Implement preventive maintenance schedules
  • Ensure all machine documentation (manuals, diagrams, drawings, programs, spare parts, maintenance and adjustment procedures) is kept up to date
  • Integrate feedback from process technicians when making changes to production lines or equipment (control and monitoring checklists)
  • Lead industrial investment projects (new equipment, retrofit of existing equipment, production lines, automation, etc.)
  • Draft technical specifications and requirements
  • Participate in the optimization of existing installations (performance, safety, energy efficiency)
  • Ensure maintenance of industrial buildings and utilities (electricity, compressed air, steam, water, etc.)
  • Ensure regulatory compliance of all installations
  • Manage external technical service providers, particularly during summer and winter maintenance periods
  • Participate in internal and external audits
  • Implement industrial risk prevention actions


Supervisory Responsibilities

  • 3+ direct reports
  • Manages a generally homogeneous team; adapts plans and sets priorities to meet service and/or operational challenges
  • Has performance management and people development responsibility for managers or associates
  • Provides subject matter guidance to associates, colleagues and/or customers


Requirements and Preferred Skills

  • Engineering degree, preferably in industrial engineering, mechanical engineering, automation or electrical engineering, or equivalent, strengthened through diverse professional experience
  • Successful experience of 5 to 10 years in an industrial production environment only, within Maintenance and/or Equipment Engineering / Engineering departments, including project and team management. Strong background in industrial maintenance, automation, mechanical and electrical systems
  • Strong technical expertise of the machinery fleet, including compliance with current regulations and their ongoing evolution
  • Knowledge of the Machinery Directive, associated standards, as well as HSE and ISO standards
  • Industrial project management
  • Budget management (maintenance, retrofit, improvement projects, etc.) with strong negotiation skills
  • Planning and coordination of regulatory and energy inspections, as well as implementation of equipment reliability plans
  • Ability to lead, motivate and train personnel, operate calmly under pressure, communicate effectively at all levels of the organization and with external stakeholders, think beyond the immediate problem, be proactive, and demonstrate a high level of creativity to design and deliver new equipment integrating the most appropriate technologies
  • Proficiency in English, enabling effective communication and correspondence with other plants within the Group
  • Depending on the candidate's profile, the company is willing to provide the necessary training to support success in the role
