The university of Bordeaux is a great dynamic and responsible university that cares about the well-being of its staff. Joining us means working in a privileged environment within a particularly diverse and open professional community, benefiting from welcome and inclusion schemes, training and internal mobility. It means participating in an academic, scientific and human adventure. It means committing to meeting the challenges of the 21st century.
Join the Institute for Heart Rhythm Disorders (IHU Liryc ) at the University of Bordeaux! Liryc is organized into clinical research teams that work closely with basic science teams. IHU LIRYC is a world-renowned institute specializing in the research and treatment of cardiac rhythm disorders. Its four missions are: research, innovation, training, and patient care.
As part of the LeDucq Transatlantic Fellowship and within the cardiac modelling unit, we are recruiting a Postdoctoral Researcher in neurocardiology W/M.
This project, entitled ' Bioelectronics for Neurocardiology - Diagnosis & Therapeutics ', is funded for five years. The aim of this fellowship is to develop neuromodulation technologies for cardiac therapies. The work carried out in Bordeaux will help to establish mechanistic links between neurons and cardiac myocytes. The research is coordinated across five international institutions, with frequent meetings held at rotating venues.
Votre mission
We propose to develop devices in which advanced bioelectronics, capable of providing real-time data, is combined with artificial intelligence/machine learning (AI/ML)-assisted approaches to create closed-loop neuromodulation devices for cardiovascular therapies.
These devices would reduce life-threatening ventricular arrhythmias and help prevent the progression of heart failure in various clinical settings, including ischaemic heart disease. Our objectives are as follows:
1. To identify autonomic dysfunction in individuals at high risk of sudden cardiac death (SCD) and ventricular remodelling using new technologies (UCLA, Oxford and Bordeaux)
2. Detect and define the specific contribution of abnormal electrophysiological and autonomic substrates, which amplify heterogeneities in neurotransmitter release, leading to increased vulnerability to ventricular disorders and, consequently, to increased vulnerability to ventricular arrhythmias. (UCLA, Bordeaux)
# Develop computer models
• You develop mathematical models of electrophysiology
• You analyse experimental data
• You programme the models
# Scientific dissemination
• You write articles for scientific journals in English
• You present your findings at conferences
• You work closely with other team members
The expected deliverable is a computer model that captures how cardiac myocytes are influenced by neurons. This model will be based on experimental data obtained at the IHU Liryc and published data.
Vos atouts / Vos talents
Holder of a PhD in science, you have knowledge of electrophysiology and experience in developing computer models.
• You are independent and meticulous in your scientific approach
• You demonstrate strong analytical skills
• You are proficient in Python, C, C++ or Matlab
• You have a C1/C2 level of English in a multicultural and transatlantic working environment
• You are recognised for your writing and oral communication skills
