Position Summary
Reporting to the Global Payroll Manager, the Payroll Specialist - Europe is responsible for the end-to-end coordination, control, validation, and compliance oversight of monthly payrolls for approximately 200 employees across France, United Kingdom, Belgium, and Finland.
This role partners closely with external payroll providers (ADP Celergo and SD Worx) and internal stakeholders (HR, Finance, Accounting, Total Rewards) and employees to ensure accurate, compliant, and timely payroll processing. The Payroll Specialist acts as the regional subject matter expert on European payroll, tax and allowance compliance, working time regulations, and statutory reporting requirements.

Key Responsibilities:
European Payroll Administration
- Coordinate and oversee monthly payroll processing across France, UK, Belgium, and Finland.
- Prepare, validate, and transmit payroll input files including starters, leavers, salary changes, variable compensation, absences, and overtime, FMD, etc.
- Review and audit payroll calculations prior to final approval.
- Validate payroll audit reports and resolve discrepancies with vendors.
- Ensure accurate processing of termination payments.
- Reconcile payroll reports to funding and investigate variances.
- Support equity/LTI payroll processing and related audits where applicable.
- Prepare and issue various certificates.
Compliance & Statutory Reporting
- Ensure payroll compliance with local legislation, collective bargaining agreements, and company policies.
- Oversee required monthly, quarterly, and annual statutory filings and social declarations.
- Support internal and external payroll audits.
- Maintain payroll records in compliance with statutory retention requirements.
Time & Absence Management
- Monitor working time and absence tracking in coordination with HR and local systems.
- Ensure proper application of statutory leave regulations and company leave policies.
- Review holiday accruals, sick pay entitlements, and statutory payments.
Accounting & Reporting
- Prepare payroll-related reports for HR and Finance.
- Reconcile payroll to the GL and coordinate with accounting for accurate posting.
- Monitor benefit deductions and vendor payments.
HRIS & Systems
- Maintain payroll data integrity between Workday HRIS and external payroll providers.
- Review HR data changes impacting payroll.
- Participate in system testing, upgrades, and implementations as needed.
Employee Support & Stakeholder Partnership
- Serve as primary payroll contact for European employees.
- Provide guidance on payslips, deductions, statutory leave, tax, and social contributions.
- Partner with HR Business Partners and Finance teams across regions.
Essential Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or related field (or equivalent experience).
- Minimum 5 years of European payroll experience.
- Strong knowledge of French, UK, Belgian, and/or Finnish payroll legislation.
- Experience working with outsourced payroll providers
- Advanced Excel skills (pivot tables, lookups, reconciliations).
- High attention to detail and analytical mindset.
- Fluent English required; French strongly preferred.
- Cross-cultural understanding
Desirable Qualifications:
- Experience in ADP Celergo and SD Worx
- Experience with Workday HRIS
- Expertise in French payroll processing
