Position Summary

Amphenol's Harsh Environment Solutions (AHES) Division is seeking a highly motivated and strategic Business Development Manager to drive inorganic and organic growth initiatives across North America. This role will play a critical part in identifying acquisition opportunities, developing strategic partnerships, evaluating emerging markets, and supporting diversification efforts across AHES's portfolio of businesses.

Reporting to the Division Business Development Director, the Business Development Manager will serve as a key contributor to the division's growth strategy by cultivating acquisition targets, assessing market opportunities, supporting due diligence activities, and developing actionable market intelligence that enables AHES to expand its presence across aerospace, defense, industrial, transportation, energy, heavy equipment, and other harsh-environment markets.

The successful candidate will combine strong commercial acumen, strategic thinking, relationship-building skills, and financial awareness with a deep understanding of industrial technology markets and acquisition-driven growth strategies.

Key Responsibilities

Mergers & Acquisitions
  • Lead the identification, qualification, and prioritization of acquisition targets throughout North America aligned with AHES strategic growth objectives.
  • Develop and maintain a robust pipeline of acquisition opportunities across target markets, technologies, and adjacent industries.
  • Build and cultivate long-term relationships with business owners, executive leadership teams, investment bankers, industry advisors, and strategic partners.
  • Conduct preliminary assessments of acquisition candidates, including strategic fit, market position, growth potential, customer base, technology portfolio, and competitive advantages.
  • Support due diligence activities including commercial, operational, market, and competitive assessments in collaboration with corporate development, finance, legal, and operating company leadership.
  • Develop business cases and strategic recommendations for acquisition opportunities and partnership initiatives.
  • Collaborate with acquisition targets and strategic partners on pre-transaction engagement activities, joint development initiatives, and early-stage commercial opportunities.
  • Support post-acquisition onboarding and integration efforts, helping ensure strategic objectives, revenue synergies, and operational leverage opportunities are realized.
  • Monitor industry consolidation trends and maintain awareness of emerging acquisition opportunities across AHES target sectors.

Strategic Market Development
  • Develop and maintain a comprehensive market intelligence framework to track industry dynamics, competitive activity, emerging technologies, customer trends, and whitespace opportunities.
  • Identify and evaluate new market segments, applications, and adjacencies that align with AHES growth and diversification strategies.
  • Analyze competitive landscapes and develop actionable insights to support strategic planning and investment decisions.
  • Identify and prioritize high-potential growth opportunities across existing AHES businesses and adjacent markets.
  • Support strategic planning initiatives by providing market assessments, growth forecasts, and competitive intelligence.
  • Collaborate with business leaders across the division to evaluate market expansion opportunities, technology trends, and customer needs.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with industry organizations, market influencers, customers, and strategic partners to enhance market visibility and identify emerging opportunities.
  • Track and assess evolving technologies, regulatory developments, and industry disruptions that may impact AHES growth strategies.

Leadership & Reporting
  • Prepare and present business development updates, acquisition pipeline reviews, market assessments, and strategic recommendations to division and corporate leadership.
  • Maintain accurate reporting of acquisition activities, target pipeline status, market intelligence findings, and strategic initiative progress.
  • Support annual strategic planning and long-range growth initiatives across the division.
  • Serve as a trusted advisor to senior leadership on market trends, acquisition opportunities, and strategic growth initiatives.

Qualifications

Required
  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Engineering, Finance, Economics, Marketing, or a related field.
  • 5+ years of experience in business development, corporate development, mergers and acquisitions, strategic planning, product management, or related commercial roles.
  • Experience within industrial technology, aerospace, defense, transportation, energy, electronics, interconnect, sensor, or manufacturing environments.
  • Demonstrated ability to evaluate markets, identify growth opportunities, and build strategic relationships.
  • Strong analytical and financial acumen with the ability to assess business opportunities and market attractiveness.
  • Exceptional communication, presentation, and relationship-management skills.
  • Ability to influence stakeholders across multiple functions and organizational levels.
  • Willingness to travel approximately 25-40% throughout North America.

Preferred
  • MBA or advanced degree.
  • Experience supporting mergers and acquisitions, due diligence, integration, or corporate development initiatives.
  • Knowledge of connector, interconnect, sensor, power distribution, electromechanical, or related electronic component industries.
  • Experience working within decentralized manufacturing organizations.
  • Familiarity with aerospace, defense, industrial automation, transportation, energy, heavy equipment, or adjacent harsh-environment markets.
