Job Description

At Syngenta, our objective is to build the most collaborative and trusted team in agriculture, providing high-quality seeds and innovative crop protection solutions that enhance farmer success. To support this mission, the Syngenta recruitment team is looking for a Cell biology lab lead in Sarrians. This role will support the execution of Dihaploids production and embryo rescue by:

Leading Cell biology lab responsible for the production of dihaplioids and embryo rescue.
  • Manage delivery of yearly request as agreed with crop requesters and the Global Cell Biology lead within time and budget
  • Manage resources according to the request; people, consumables and equipment and infrastructure
  • Drives continuous improvements to optimize processes
  • Provide technical Cell biology expertise to the team to develop the team and improve the processes
  • Develop people in their roles and skills to build a high-performing team
  • Ensure conformity to Syngenta processes and Compliance (HSE, Quality, Legal etc) for relevant cell biology platform.

Accountabilities
  • Lead a Cell biology lab with 5-6 persons
  • Translating a year plan into a workable lab planning with the right resources in place
  • Delivery of annual request agreed on within timelines, priorities and budget.
  • Prioritize request and take action in case of high workload
  • Develop and tracking of process KPI's and act on the KPIs
  • Overview on the progress of the request
  • Ensure the lab data is stored in a clear and structured way
  • Development of people capabilities and relevant expertise within the team
  • Build a cohesive team with clear roles and in which each member collaborates effectively to drive success
  • Keep abreast of the latest advancements in cell biology and apply this knowledge
  • Drive efficiency improvements and establish a culture of continuous improvements
  • Work across departments and teams
  • Establish and maintain effective communication with stakeholders
  • Work across the global Cell biology network and exchange relevant information
  • Be an actively member of the site management team and a role model for others
  • Drive high quality and HSE standards in compliance with Quality Management guidelines


Qualifications

Required
  • MSc or BSc degree (Bac+3 or more) in a relevant scientific field.
  • At least 5 years of experience in Cell Biology applications within plant breeding (preferably Dihaploidisation in Vegetables).
  • Proven experience in leading Dihaploidisation production and protocol development.
  • Demonstrated leadership experience managing a team of technicians.
  • Strong organizational and planning skills with high rigor and accuracy.
  • Proficiency in English (both verbal and written) and standard computer tools (MS Office).
