Responsibilities of the Role:
- Management of Site Safety in conjunction with the project manager and the Mercury Safety Advisor. This will include the setup, management of and closing out of the safety file as part of the Management team.
- Management of Site QA with regards to the CSA works on site ensuring that a robust system is in place to avoid future issues. Record and documents all facets of the works.
- Assist with management of Project Schedule in conjunction with Mercury Project manager, consulting Engineer and Client requirements
- Review design information issued to ACC or associated platforms and ensure on time review of same.
- Management of all day-to-day site operations as outlined by the Project Manager
- Ensure Mercury Policies and procedures are followed closely.
- Assist with management of sub-contractor activities including tracking progress against schedule and manpower levels. Ensure that there is, and you attend, a weekly minute of meeting with sub-contractors.
- Issue direct labour hours and sub-contractor hours to time administrator for tracking cen-trally.
- Attendance at Site Meetings, Internal Project Reviews, Engineering Reviews, Planning and Co-ordination Meetings and Handover Meetings
- Issue internal weekly progress report, to the project manager, highlighting areas not availa-ble, delays, shortage of design, third party hold ups and percentage complete.
- Maintain a weekly project photographic diary.
- Collaborate with architects, engineers, and construction managers to develop comprehen-sive project plans and ensure delivery on schedule.
- Collaborate with any other consultants, subcontractors, supervisors, planners, estimators, quantity surveyors and the general workforce involved in the project
- Liaise with clients and other 3rd parties as required, such as insurance companies, vendors, etc.
- Raise any design-related risks to planning, commercial and management, and establish a course to minimise their impact.
- Attend design related meetings and provide continual input for optimisation.
- Collaborate on new design issues/ changes/ research within the team.
- Assist with new tenders and PCSA (pre-construction services agreements) deliverables within the Business Unit.
- Ensure civil, structural, and architectural technical compliance
- Ensure knowledge of client design standards.
- Perform structural steelwork and concrete analysis and calculations to ensure the stability and safety of structures.
- Assess and mitigate potential risks and issues as they're identified in design, or that could have potential impact on construction activities.
- Review design proposals by others for suitability and constructability.
- Offer proposals for value engineering (VE) and off-site manufacturing (OSM).
- Coordinate and manage coordination of CSA disciplines and interfaces with MEP.
- Mange, monitor, and interpret the contract design documents supplied by the client or archi-tect.
- Follow closely the fabrication planning and execution phases to provide support as neces-sary.
- Fully understand the scope of the Project works as per the Design/IFC specifications and drawings.
- Correspondence with Client , Construction team and subcontractors.
- Mentor & Develop Junior & Graduate engineers within the team to progress their experience and knowledge
- Assist to review project schedule and ensure engineering activities do not impact on same (e.g., Procurement, structural design, tech subs, etc).
- Follow closely site install to ensure scope is installed to design, project specifications and lo-cal codes
- Ability to liaise directly with clients, architects, and other design discipline team members, building long-term internal and external relationships:
- Be a team player.
- Willing to learn and understand multidisciplinary design and construction processes
Essential Criteria:
- 5-7 years' experience in Structural Engineering
- Chartered or in the process as a Structural Engineer
- Excellent communication and organizational skills.
- Ability to work under pressure and meet strict deadlines.
- An understanding and/or experience of electrical and mechanical systems used in a data centre or similar environment.
- Understanding all the associated safety code related requirements relative to provid-ing the service.
- Understanding of Health & Safety Risk Assessments, HRAs and Control Measures.
- Experience in vendor management, ability to manage and monitor progress to en-sure objectives are achieved for outsourced support and projects.
- Excellent verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills, with the ability to communicate intelligently and effectively with the client, employees and subcontrac-tors.
- Fluent in English language
