Job description
The Mechanical Construction Coordinator coordinates and oversees all mechanical construction activities at onshore and offshore work sites, ensuring compliance with safety, environmental, and technical standards. The role is pivotal in managing contractor performance, supervising mechanical representatives, and ensuring timely and quality execution of mechanical scopes within turnaround and capital projects.
Roles and Responsibilities
• Supervise and coordinate mechanical construction activities including piping, static and
rotating equipment installation, and structural fabrication
• Oversee main contractor and subcontractor performance, ensuring adherence to project
specifications and safety standards
• Liaise with engineering, commissioning, and operations teams to align construction
deliverables with project milestones
• Support mechanical completion processes including walkdowns, punch list resolution, and
documentation for handover
• Empower Construction Representatives to track and document daily tool usage using IOC
tools ( and monitor installation durations against estimates.
• Conduct daily coordination meetings with Civil, E&I, and Commissioning teams to track
progress and resolve issues
• Coordinate PTW procedures and ensure readiness for shutdown and tie-in activities
• Provide daily and weekly progress reports, including productivity tracking and resource
utilization
• Participate in TAR planning and execution, including punch list resolution, quality audits,
and post-TAR assessments
Profile
Experience Requirements
• Minimum 10 years of experience in the oil and gas industry, with a strong background in
mechanical construction, particularly in piping and structural works
• Proven experience in shutdowns, tie-ins, and commissioning support.
• Familiarity with system completion protocols, including mechanical completion certificates
and punch list management
Competency Expectations
• Deep understanding of mechanical systems, construction sequencing, and equipment
installation.
• Ability to lead multidisciplinary teams and coordinate across functions.
• Strong interpersonal skills to interface with contractors, vendors, and internal
stakeholders.
• Proactive in identifying bottlenecks and implementing corrective actions.
• Demonstrated commitment to HSE standards and regulatory compliance
