LG Material Sourcer - Semi-finished

Within the Leather Goods Sourcing Raw Material team, reporting to the Head of Department, he/she will participate in the identification and selection of high-quality semi-finished materials for the production of semi-finished. You will work closely with the design, product development, purchasing, and production teams to ensure that the materials meet aesthetic, technical, quality, regulatory, and cost requirements.

AREAS OF RESPONSIBILITIES AND RELATED ACTIVITIES:
  • Interface with the Design Accessories Team to receive new collection inputs
  • Collaborate with designers and product developers to create new materials and adapt existing materials to the specific needs of each collection
  • Monitor the development of prints and finishes in collaboration with the studios, the Materials teams based in Florence and the manufacturers
  • Ensure the follow-up of quality tests and compliance with environmental, safety and DIOR standards
  • Interface with the Product Development Office for the launch of finished product prototypes and swatches
  • Maintain strong relationships with existing suppliers and identify new strategic partnerships
  • Share regularly with Sourcing team to support and align with the Maisons' Supplier Strategy
  • Conduct in-depth research on market trends, material innovations, and sustainability best practices.
  • Maintain a constant watch on new materials, technologies, and market trends.
  • Participate in trade shows and industry events to discover new suppliers and materials.
  • Provide material and pre-pricing estimates.

TECHNICAL SKILLS - PORTRAIT OF A PERFECT CANDIDATE
  • Graduate in Fashion / Engineering School or Certificate in Leather Industry
  • Technical knowledge of semi-finished
  • Previous experience of at least 7/8 years in leather goods production departments and/or tanneries;
  • Advanced Englis level (C1-C2), fluency in French and Italian is mandatory
  • Knowledge of processing techniques applicable to leather materials and semi-finished
  • Proven experience in sourcing materials for leather goods or a related sector
  • Strong interest in Fashion Products, Leather Goods in particular, and Production issues
  • Excellent negotiation, communication, and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Thoroughness and attention to detail
  • Sense of organization and ability to manage priorities
  • Creativity and curiosity
