Within TotalEnergies, the OneTech Branch brings together all the technical and R&D expertise from the different divisions (Exploration & Production, Refining Chemicals, Marketing & Services, and Gas, Renewables & Power). With nearly 3,400 engineers and technicians spread across 9 sites in Europe, OneTech is organised around three hubs: an industrial hub to support the Company's growth in gas, renewables, electricity, and CO2 emissions reduction; a Research & Development hub to drive TotalEnergies' transformation by prioritising a low-carbon mix; and a support functions hub.
Activities
As a postdoctoral in methodologies for modelling interconnections between bidding zones in the context of European electricity market studies, your main objective is to assess the impact of flow-based market coupling on medium-term electricity price forecasts, in particular:
- Exploration of methodologies for implementing the flow-based market coupling approach in fundamental market price models
- Identification of available databases
- Quantitative analysis of the flow-based approach compared to the ATC approach implemented in medium-term price forecasting models
- Case study on the European market model for the 2025-2035 horizon
The expected results are:
- A review of interconnection capacity modelling for electricity price models
- A methodological report detailing how to implement flow-based modelling in fundamental electricity price forecasting models
- A demonstration and results for the selected use case.
Candidate Profile
- You have a PhD with a specialty in Power System and Market Modelling
- You speak English and / or French.
- You have less than 3 years of experience after obtaining your PhD.
