Sompo has a unique opportunity for a (Senior) Account /Field Engineer, Property in our Risk Control team in Continental Europe.
The role involves approximately ten one-week field assignments per year across France and Europe, primarily within the automotive sector. A high level of organisation, planning discipline, and technical rigor is required to effectively prepare, conduct, and follow up on on-site risk engineering surveys. This includes the timely delivery of clear, structured, and actionable survey reports in line with agreed standards and deadlines.
Success in this role depends on the ability to assess industrial risks on site, engage professionally with client representatives, and provide precise and practical technical guidance. This includes reviewing and designing fire protection systems, primarily sprinkler systems in accordance with NFPA, FM, and APSAD standards.

What you'll be doing:
- Partnering with Property Team Leaders in Underwriting, Claims, and Management/Executive teams to support and strengthen corporate business goals, including retention, new business growth, reducing loss exposure, and overall regional profitability.
- Ensuring Risk Control surveys and service activities are completed on time, are appropriate for the identified hazards/exposures, and are accurate;
- Monitoring recommendations made by consultants and ensuring critical recommendations are addressed by Clients;
- Providing service quality reviews and risk desk reviews for Underwriters;
- Partnering with corporate business partners' Claims, Underwriting, Marketing, etc. to enhance the Sompo International brand within the marketplace.
- Ensuring account renewal activities between field staff and underwriting occur as required to achieve department objectives;
- Assisting senior leadership with budget development and strategic planning;
- Maintaining a high level of industry awareness and expertise in applicable risk control subject matters;
- Creating client facing reports and/or loss control surveys; Conducting loss control surveys at client locations to determine potential hazards and risk factors to be considered in underwriting/risk selection;
- Analyzing loss trends, recognize opportunities to provide risk control products and/or services which can help reduce losses;
- Expanding existing relationships and new prospective Property clients.
What you'll bring:
- 5-10+ years of experience in property risk engineering, fire protection, or industrial risk prevention ;
- Master's degree / Engineering degree in Fire Protection or Industrial Engineering (or equivalent / A University degree or equivalent industry accreditation;
- Expertise in the automotive industry, with experience in HPR account management would be considered as a strong advantage;
- Strong technical expertise in fire protection systems and relevant standards such as NFPA, FM, and APSAD;
- Strong communication skills, a consultative and educational approach, as well as the ability to influence and support clients in implementing effective risk improvement measures;
- Willingness to travel in France and internationally as required;
- Language skills: English (Professional); French (Fluent).
