Chief of Staff to the CEO
Hexa
Paris, Île-de-France 75000, France
CDI
Context
Hexa (formerly eFounders) gives entrepreneurs the best chances to build outstanding companies.
We are a pioneering, world-leading startup studio born in Europe that designs, builds and launches startups in the B2B AI space. We are today recognized as one of the best startup studios in the world, with a track record comparable to tier-1 VC funds.
We have created 60+ companies (including 3 unicorns) with a combined valuation of over $5 billion among them Aircall, Spendesk, Front, Swan and Yousign. We are passionate about B2B software, particularly AI-native and agentic SaaS, fintech, climate tech, defense tech and healthtech.
Hexa is in full growth mode, with three early-stage activities: our Ventures programs Hexa Start and Hexa Sprint which help entrepreneurs go from zero to one, and a PE program, Hexa Scale, which takes majority stakes in existing startups and pushes them to new thresholds.
As we are scaling across multiple dimensions (activity-wise with the addition of Sprint and Scale to our historical startup studio activity, geographically with the opening of our San-Francisco house, and with new areas of expertise beyond our historical B2B AI SaaS focus), our CEO Matthieu is looking for a Chief of Staff to support him in managing the growing complexity of our operations and some key strategic projects. This person will act as the CEO's right hand, fully empowered in front of other stakeholders, owning the projects end-to-end and able to turn strategic intents into processes that actually run.
What You'll Do
You will orchestrate the operational engine and take real ownership of our most strategic projects.
1. Operations & track animation (60%)
2. Hexa (agentic) OS (20%)
Alongside Tanguy Gorretti (CTO, Founder of Cowboy), you'll co-own the Hexa knowledge base: its architecture, maintenance, and adoption turning 15 years of studio expertise into a living, queryable asset, and you'll co-own the build of the agentic "Hexa brain," designing and standing up the AI layer that captures and operationalizes Hexa's playbooks across tracks and teams.
3. Strategic projects (20%)
Carry cross-cutting strategic initiatives end to end, regarding Hexa's value prop for founders (e.g. structure the founder San Fransisco experience), the relationship with our investors (e.g. new platform to invest in Hexa deals) or key internal projects for the Hexa Team (e.g. Agentic transformation of each function).
What the role is
This is a leadership role, not a coordination one: you'll act as the CEO's true right hand, fully empowered in front of founders, partners, and investors, owning strategic projects end to end and turning intent into process that actually runs. Beyond keeping the operational engine humming across the Venture Program, partnerships, and portfolio ops, a third of the role is building the AI layer that will define how Hexa works going forward (the knowledge base and the agentic "Hexa brain"), and another third is driving high-stakes, cross-cutting strategic initiatives for the CEO on founder experience, investor relations, or internal transformation. Over time, this ownership and legitimacy are meant to compound, opening a possible path toward a COO role.
What the role is not
This is not a project management job, where success means ticking boxes and keeping a calendar on schedule. It's not a purely administrative or execution-only function either you won't be waiting for instructions or simply relaying decisions made elsewhere; you're expected to bring judgment, structure ambiguity yourself, and own outcomes rather than tasks. And it's not a narrow operations role: AI fluency and strategic thinking are core to the job, not a nice-to-have layered on top.

What You'll Do
You will orchestrate the operational engine and take real ownership of our most strategic projects.
1. Operations & track animation (60%)
- Drive the Venture Program's cadence - orchestrating milestones across Venture Committees, Demo Times, and the overall drum beat that keeps projects on track - while animating the partnership through weekly partner meetings, ideation workshop prep, and best-practice sharing across partners and venture teams.
- Own the structuring of Hexa for scale, building repeatable processes with a particular focus on the Seed fundraising motion (pipeline, investor readiness, demo-day mechanics), and support founders in their own Seed fundraising (materials, investor intro logistics, process).
- Own portfolio financial and legal ops, from onboarding through offboarding and ongoing management across the studio's companies.

And it's not a narrow operations role: AI fluency and strategic thinking are core to the job, not a nice-to-have layered on top.
Who You Are
- 4-5 years of experience, including 2-3 years in consulting (strategy/management) followed by a meaningful stint in a startup or scale-up or an equivalent path that combines structured thinking with real operating experience.
- A track record of owning projects end to end, not just analyzing them: you ship, you make things run, you close loops.
- You're a rigorous, autonomous operator who blends strategic thinking with hands-on execution structuring ambiguity into clear frameworks, owning decisions and outcomes without waiting to be told, and earning the trust to sit close to the CEO on sensitive strategic, financial, and people matters.
- You have a genuine appetite and hands-on ability to build with AI and agentic tools, designing workflows and prototyping to turn AI into operational leverage, which is critical given the Agentic OS mandate.
- Culturally, you're an entrepreneur at heart who thrives in ambiguity and would rather write the playbook than follow one, you're genuinely energized by Hexa's mission of building the most successful startups and by working across founders, partners, and teams, and you combine low ego with high standards - humble about the work, demanding about the outcome.
- English fluency required. French is a plus.
What Success Looks Like
- By 6 months: the operating rhythm runs without friction Venture Committees, Demo Times, and partner meetings happen on cadence, well-prepped, with clear follow-ups you've taken full ownership of portfolio financial & legal ops, with onboarding/offboarding running smoothly, and you've mapped the Hexa knowledge base and shipped a first concrete improvement.
- By 12 months: the Hexa scaling processes you've built are live and measurably reducing friction as volume grows, the agentic "Hexa brain" has moved from concept to a working v1 that teams actually use, and you've delivered at least two special projects end to end.
- By 18 months: you're recognized internally as the operational backbone of Hexa, trusted by partners and teams alike, the operating system (process + agentic layer) scales with the business rather than holding it back, and you've built the operational legitimacy that could open a possible evolution toward a COO role.
