Product Owner Database Services

Ekinops S.A.
Massy, Île-de-France 91300, France CDI

Ekinops is a French company building telecom solutions for Enterprise connectivity and a software editor providing secure communication services to Services Providers, enterprises and SMBs worldwide.

Among our software products, we provide SD-WAN and SSE (Security Service Edge) solutions designed to secure WAN and Internet routing and access for SBMs & enterprise customers through technologies such as Secure Web Gateways, CASB, DLP, ZTNA and SD-WAN.

We are on a mission to provide secured, trusted, sovereign solutions for tomorrow's Enterprise connectivity and we need you!

Role overview & context

To provide effective and extremely relevant filtering services, our security gateways rely on a custom business database and associated services, built on 20 years of experience.

Beyond our security products, our databases and services can be applied to a wide range of use cases. We have established a value proposition for third-party vendors who want to integrate advanced traffic categorization and/or real-time URL or IP classification services for various use cases (network routing, advertising, cybersecurity, forensic or intelligence analysis, etc.).

This product is at the core of our value proposition. We intend to strengthen it for the benefit of our clients - internal and external - by adding new features, services, or partnerships that will support the international growth of our security products as well as that of our OEM customers.

In this role, you will primarily work on developing our "Database Services" product line under the SASE Product Owners Director, within the Technology & Product Office of Ekinops R&D, in close collaboration with business and tech teams.

The challenges will span both Product lifecycle and Data science topics that power our specialized classification AI models. You will work across all product dimensions: the products themselves (APIs and SDKs) as well as the services that support them operationally - upstream (database feeding infrastructure & software and classification AI models) and downstream (customer portals, delivery methods), without overlooking performance management tools.

Your main responsibilities:

Design and shape the future of the products
  • Support the Product Lifecycle Manager(PLM)in defining roadmap milestones, andconduct interviews with clients, prospects, and internal partners (CSM, Sales, dev teams) to understand their operational challenges and needs.
  • Work with stakeholders (PLM, R&D, CSM) to identify and measure impact and value, and design the best possible response.
  • Work with the Classification team to help improve their operational efficiency and to ensure our operational flows are smooth and scale accordingly to plans.
  • Build scenarios with the team and stakeholders when trade-offs are needed, make decisions with the PLM and management, then communicate them to the team.
  • Track and evaluate roadmap progress with the PLM and tech leads, using estimation and progress measurement methods.
  • Contribute to product and market intelligence to improve internal knowledge and identify emerging needs (AI, tech,CTI, etc.).

Ensure successful day-to-day delivery
  • Own the backlog and product objectives set by the PLM; act as an advisor and contributor to define clear, precise requirements, including success metrics and ROI.
  • Anticipate and plan ahead dependencies with Ekinops' other products teams, as Database Services are deeply embedded within Ekinops' core value proposition
  • Write specs and related artifacts (EPICs, user stories) with clear, precise acceptance criteria so the team can take ownership and achieve these goals.
  • Share these artifacts with the development team and ensure open points are clarified before development starts.
  • Work daily with the development team to keep the delivery workflow as smooth as possible, track progress, and raise alerts when needed.
  • Identify technical debt with developers and architects, and integrate it into the backlog and roadmap.
  • Ensure the team delivers value by validating completed development work.
  • Report progress through the appropriate channels and keep stakeholders informed on product status.

Communicate and showcase product contributions
  • Document new features and improve existing documentation with our Technical Writer.
  • Prepare and run product demos with PLM and tech teams.
  • Prepare product communications (internal and external) with the PLM.
  • Support and coach Sales and CSM teams on new releases.

Contribute to continuous product and technology improvement
  • Attend and participate in rituals (dailys, weeklies, demos, retros).
  • Propose improvements to our ways of working and contribute ideas to strengthen our Product Excellence approach.
  • Ensure the team maintains a minimal set of product quality standards (DoD, DoR, test coverage, bug criticality, documentation).
  • Leverage the potential of large language models to evolve our practices and bring forward new ideas.

Profile & Skills:

Above all, we are looking for an experienced, committed, autonomous Product Owner who is curious about technical topics and naturally connects an abstract product to a wide range of use cases. You will be the technical person who understands business and builds relevant bridges to foster success.

About you:

Experiences: You hold a Master's degree (or equivalent) and are an experienced PO/PM with at least 3 to 5 years of experience as a PO/PM on a technical B2B product or aimed at a developer audience.

You have worked on service integrations and deployment challenges (APIs, SDKs) and have regularly interacted with external technical stakeholders.
  • Network-oriented experience (routers, DNS security, etc.) is a plus.
  • Developer experience is also a plus.

Technical side: you understand REST APIs, client-server architectures and overall product architecture are familiar concepts. SaaS product challenges and constraints hold no secrets for you. Ideally, you also have worked or have a working knowledge of core Machine Learning concepts and grasp F1 score, recall, and reinforcement learning.

Product side: You are comfortable with the Product methodology, and terms such as user stories, INVEST, Epic, ROI, and ARR are very familiar to you.

You understand the minimum requirements a product must meet to be fit for sale but you also know when to challenge business expectations for effective delivery.

You have strong analytical, problem-solving, abstraction, formalization, and writing skills and you know how to translate business requirements and problems into actionable items for your team. In the same time, you know how to drive prioritization, and escalate priority conflicts to the appropriate channels when needed.

You care about quality - from both the customer and team perspective - and the maintainability of the solutions you own.

You are familiar with Scrum and Agile principles (ideally also with agile@scale) and you use tools such as Jira and Confluence on a daily basis. Ideally you have already implemented product development practices assisted by large language models to automate various day-to-day tasks, but you know when and how to use AI with discernment.

Interpersonal skills: You are autonomous, rigorous, and enjoy collaborating as part of a team. You are known for your synthesis and teaching skills, and people say you have excellent listening and negotiation abilities.

You are comfortable discussing technical topics with business stakeholders without losing them, and equally comfortable explaining and justifying business priorities to a development team.

We offer rich, technical intellectual challenges in a stimulating, high-growth domain (cybersecurity is undergoing major transformation). This role is an opportunity to grow your skills while leading and developing a technical product line at the heart of a sovereign security product.

If you have read this far and recognize yourself in this profile, feel free to apply or share this role with an interested friend or colleague!
