As Manager I&C (Instrumentation & Control), you will lead the design and delivery of instrumentation, control, automation, and building management solutions for complex engineering projects. As Manager I&C (Instrumentation & Control), you will lead the design and delivery of instrumentation, control, automation, and building management solutions for complex engineering projects. Acting as a technical authority, you will support project teams throughout all project phases, from concept development and tendering to detailed design, construction, commissioning, and project close-out.
You will play a key role in ensuring high-quality technical solutions while collaborating closely with clients, project teams, subcontractors, and suppliers to successfully deliver mission-critical and high-tech facilities.
Explore your tasks and responsibilities
- Lead the design and development of Instrumentation & Control (I&C) systems for complex engineering and construction projects.
- Define and review automation architectures, control strategies, communication networks, and Building Management Systems (BMS).
- Analyze customer requirements and provide technical guidance throughout the project lifecycle.
- Prepare and review technical specifications, functional descriptions, control narratives, P&IDs, points lists, communication architectures, and equipment schedules.
- Support the preparation of technical concepts, cost estimates, tender documentation, and technical bid evaluations.
- Review and optimize technical proposals from suppliers, integrators, and subcontractors.
- Coordinate multidisciplinary engineering activities to ensure alignment between automation, electrical, mechanical, process, and construction disciplines.
- Lead design reviews and ensure compliance with project requirements, applicable standards, and regulatory requirements.
- Manage external engineering partners and oversee outsourced design activities where applicable.
- Supervise the production of technical drawings and engineering documentation.
- Support project execution through design reviews, technical supervision, commissioning activities, and site support.
- Contribute to troubleshooting and resolution of technical issues during project execution and warranty periods.
- Provide technical leadership and mentoring to engineers and designers within the I&C discipline.
- Support continuous improvement initiatives and promote engineering best practices across projects.
Show your expertise
- Degree in Automation Engineering, Instrumentation, Electrical Engineering, Control Systems Engineering, or a related technical discipline.
- Several years of experience in Instrumentation & Control engineering within industrial, pharmaceutical, life sciences, data center, or other complex technical facilities.
- Proven experience leading I&C engineering activities throughout the project lifecycle.
- Strong knowledge of automation systems, PLCs, SCADA, BMS, process control systems, instrumentation, and industrial communication protocols.
- Experience developing automation architectures, functional specifications, control philosophies, and technical design documentation.
- Knowledge of major automation platforms and suppliers such as Siemens, Schneider Electric, ABB, Sauter, or equivalent.
- Experience supporting technical bid evaluations, supplier selection, and contractor management.
- Good understanding of multidisciplinary engineering coordination within complex projects.
- Familiarity with BIM-based project delivery and digital engineering tools.
- Ability to analyze technical and commercial proposals and provide sound engineering recommendations.
- Strong communication, stakeholder management, problem-solving, and leadership skills.
- Ability to work effectively in international project environments and manage multiple priorities.
- Fluent in French and English.
- Valid driving licence and willingness to travel to project sites as required.
