As the Appointed Person (AP) - Lifting Operations, you will be responsible for the safe planning, review, coordination and control of all lifting activities across a large-scale Data Center project.
You will act as the designated competent person for lifting operations, ensuring that all lifting activities are thoroughly assessed, engineered, approved and executed in accordance with Exyte standards, client requirements and applicable French regulations.
Working closely with Project Management, Construction, EHS and Trade Contractors, you will play a critical role in delivering complex construction activities safely and efficiently.

You will act as the designated competent person for lifting operations, ensuring that all lifting activities are thoroughly assessed, engineered, approved and executed in accordance with Exyte standards, client requirements and applicable French regulations.
Working closely with Project Management, Construction, EHS and Trade Contractors, you will play a critical role in delivering complex construction activities safely and efficiently.
Explore your tasks and responsibilities
- Lead the planning and technical review of standard, complex and critical lifting operations.
- Prepare, review and approve lifting plans, lift studies, method statements, RAMS and risk assessments.
- Ensure lifting operations comply with Exyte procedures, client requirements and applicable regulatory standards.
- Verify the competence and authorisation of crane operators, lifting supervisors, riggers, slingers and signalling personnel.
- Ensure lifting equipment and accessories are suitable, certified and maintained for safe operation.
- Assess and validate lift parameters including load weight, lifting points, crane positioning, load radius, ground conditions and exclusion zones.
- Coordinate lifting activities with site construction teams, logistics personnel and subcontractors to manage interfaces and SIMOPS.
- Conduct lifting inspections, audits and site observations.
- Facilitate pre-lift meetings, toolbox talks and lifting coordination meetings.
- Monitor lifting activities and intervene when unsafe conditions or procedural deviations are identified.
- Support investigations related to lifting incidents, near misses and non-conformities.
- Maintain lifting records and ensure documentation is available for project and client audits.
- Provide expert technical guidance on crane selection, lifting methodologies and heavy lifting strategies.
- Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives and lessons learned across the project.
Show your expertise
- Appointed Person qualification (BS 7121 or equivalent recognised lifting certification).
- Technical qualification in lifting operations, crane management, construction engineering or related discipline.
- Additional lifting-related certifications such as LEEA, CPCS, NPORS or equivalent are advantageous.
- Minimum 5-10 years of experience in lifting operations within construction, industrial or mission-critical environments.
- Proven experience with lift planning, lifting supervision and review of lifting documentation.
- Experience managing complex or high-risk lifting activities.
- Previous experience on Data Center, Industrial, Semiconductor or Life Sciences projects is highly desirable.
- Strong knowledge of crane operations, lifting engineering and rigging practices.
- Understanding of load charts, ground bearing pressures, exclusion zones and heavy lifting methodologies.
- Strong leadership and stakeholder management skills.
- Excellent planning, organisational and communication abilities.
- Ability to work effectively within a fast-paced, multidisciplinary project environment.
- Professional proficiency in English and French.
